The carriage is in fair-good condition and kept in the Ghan Carriage Washing and Maintenance Shed along with an 1877 Beyer Peacock NF class steam locomotive and a small Western Australian Government Railways TA class diesel-electric shunting engine. The NABP13 Passenger Carriage, built in Port Augusta in 1925, is a well preserved example of an early 20th century composite railway passenger carriage catering for both first and second class passengers.
