A Concert of Carols will be the Illawarra Choral Society's annual Christmas concert at The Church on the Mall in Wollongong. Meryl Jackson-Kew is the choir's musical director.
The concert will be presented twice in December.
The featured work will be Benjamin Britten's much loved A Ceremony of Carols. The choir will sing the work accompanied by Pauline Smirnoff on harp. Soprano Louise Lavilles, who sang with the choir in last year's performance of Handel's Messiah, will be guest soloist. The work contains singing in Latin and Old English. It begins and ends with a candle procession.
The second half of the program will be a selection of carols. The audience will be able to join in with the well known ones as well as enjoying some less well known. Peter Nickolas (organ) and Brenda Thomson (piano) will accompany....
